Our accessibility target
The public informational site is designed toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. BHP treats accessibility as an ongoing product responsibility rather than a one-time badge or overlay.
Foundations in the current website
The current website includes:
- Semantic headings, landmarks, lists, tables, buttons, and links.
- A skip link and visible keyboard focus.
- Keyboard-operable navigation and frequently asked question controls.
- Text alternatives or decorative treatment for images according to their purpose.
- Text-based explanations for important information shown in concept imagery.
- Color choices intended to meet text-contrast requirements without relying on color alone.
- Responsive layouts intended to reflow across narrow screens and browser zoom.
- Reduced-motion behavior for visitors who request it.
- Plain-language labels that describe the real availability of each destination.
These foundations are backed by automated and browser checks, but they still benefit from continued human and assistive-technology review.
Ongoing verification
Each material release should be reviewed with:
- Keyboard-only navigation, including focus order, menu behavior, disclosures, and focus visibility.
- At least representative screen-reader and browser combinations appropriate to the audience.
- Text enlargement, browser zoom, narrow-screen reflow, orientation, and touch-target checks.
- Color contrast, non-color cues, animation, and reduced-motion checks.
- Accessible-name, heading, landmark, link-purpose, image-alternative, and error-state review.
- Automated accessibility testing used as supporting evidence, followed by human review.
Current known gaps
- The final supported browser and assistive-technology matrix has not been approved.
- Human accessibility testing of the finished release candidate has not been completed.
- Any future forms, accounts, dashboards, or interactive services have not been evaluated because they are not part of this site.
- No monitored accessibility-feedback channel is active.
These gaps block a public conformance statement.
Accessibility feedback
No monitored accessibility inbox is active yet. Before BHP opens accounts or other interactive services, it must publish a method for reporting an accessibility barrier, requesting information in another format, and receiving a response. The Contact status page records that boundary.
Future product features
This statement covers only the static informational website. Accounts, dashboards, documents, planning tools, AI interactions, or other future features require their own accessibility requirements and testing; review of this website does not approve those experiences.
